2 dead, 3 injured in I-15 crash near California line

Created on August 16, 2010

According to an article in the Las Vegas Sun, a flat tire may have caused a crash in which a man and woman died and three children were critically injured near the Nevada-California state line Friday afternoon. The Nevada Highway Patrol says the man and woman most likely were husband and wife and the three children are believed to be the couple's.

NHP says the accident occurred about 4 p.m. when their Dodge pickup truck hit a paving machine. The article says a NHP trooper explained that “it appeared the truck’s front right tire was flat. He said it was unclear if the woman, who was driving, had lost control of the vehicle after the flat tire occurred or if the vehicle struck the paving machine while trying to pull over.” The article also says the paving machine wasn’t moving at the time of the crash and there were no workers on scene.

The names of the couple who passed away, or the children injured, have not been released. Our condolences and thoughts are with the children and their family.
